Strategy

Floxgen’s strategy is to simplify genomic data aggregation and provide easy access through a powerful API and user-friendly interface, leveraging technologies like Apache Hail, VEP, and ElasticSearch to ensure fast and efficient data exploration.

Do you have data that you want to aggregate? Use Floxgen for one-click aggregation, storage, and presentation.

Floxgen is a product designed for the automatic aggregation of genomic data, visualization, search, sorting, and filtering

  • One-click aggregation database
  • Platform for aggregation, annotation, integration, and presentation of genomic data
  • Database specifically designed for storing genetic information related to population panels

The one-click data aggregation saves bioinformaticians time and energy, while leveraging big data approaches for data storage and providing easy access through a straightforward API. This simplifies data searching and presentation through an intuitive user interface.

How does it work?

We have released a POC for the development of a core integration function. We successfully integrated with the InterSystems platform using FHIR HL7 REST API. We added basic objects to our custom API and mapped FHIR HL7 objects to ours. We populated the InterSystems database using the FHIR HL7 API data and can now query it through our custom API via backend integration.

Fast exploration of massive data sets

Patient variant data is loaded into a single location, where we retrieve and aggregate it using the genomic database engine Apache Hail (Broad Institute, based on Apache Spark). During this process, aggregated population features are calculated, including additional information such as gender, nationality, geographical location, or any other provided data. The data is also annotated using tools and databases like VEP, Nirvana, or any other desired annotation technology. The resulting aggregated data set is then externalized to ElasticSearch or an SQL relational database and integrated with a GraphQL API. Searching or data analysis on the data set is possible by querying the database directly or through the API. Additionally, the aggregated data is provided through a web application, offering powerful search capabilities.
